Lichtensteiger announced his retirement from the NFL on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Lichtensteiger entered the league as a fourth-round pick out of Bowling Green in 2008 and went on to start 75 of his 93 career games played for the Broncos, Vikings and Redskins. His final season was shortened to just three games due to a calf injury, but Lichtensteiger still started on each occasion he was active. Upon his retirement, Spencer Long currently pegs as Washington's starting center heading into next season.

Lichtensteiger (coach's decision) is inactive for Saturday's matchup with Chicago.
EDGE Analysis
Lichtensteiger was activated off IR a few weeks ago but appears to be a ways down the depth chart. His absence won't impact the team much, as he would've only seen the field if injuries forced him into action.

Lichtensteiger (calf) was activated off injured reserved Saturday, Mike Jones of The Washington Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Lichtensteiger landed on IR after injuring his calf in Week 3 against the Giants. He's expected to back up Joe Sullivan at center Sunday against the Eagles.

Lichtensteiger (calf) has been designated to return from injured reserve.
EDGE Analysis
Lichtensteiger was originally placed on IR following the Redskins' Week 3 win over the Giants when he suffered the calf injury, but he'll be eligible to return over the last few weeks of the season. The team demoted cornerback Dashaun Phillips to the practice squad in order to help make room for Lichtensteiger on the active roster.

Lichtensteiger (calf) was placed on injured reserve on Tuesday, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Washington has decided to pull the plug on Lichtensteiger's season after he suffered a moderate calf injury in Sunday's win over the Giants. The lineman has also been dealing with lingering back pain the past couple of weeks, prompting the team to end his season just three weeks into the campaign. Washington is reportedly signing veteran center John Sullivan in the wake of Lichtensteiger's injury, but Spencer Long seems to be the likely candidate to take over the starting center role for the immediate future.

Lichtensteiger injured his calf during Sunday's contest with the Giants, JP Finlay of CSN Mid-Atlantic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Lichtensteiger's injury kept him out for the remainder of Sunday's game, but we will not know the severity of the injury until early next week. His practice status could be a good indicator of his Week 4 game status.

Lichtensteiger (back) is active for Sunday's tilt against the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
The center is nursing a back injury and was limited in Thursday and Friday's practices but, regardless, will be on the field for Sunday's game. His injury will be something to keep an eye during the game, as Spencer Long will be waiting in the wings if Lichtensteiger's back should act up.

Lichtensteiger (back) is questionable to play in the Redskins' Week 3 divisional matchup against the Giants on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Lichtensteiger was not listed on the team's injury report on Wednesday, but was limited both Thursday and Friday with a back injury. The details surrounding said injury are unclear at this point in time, but if he's unable to play, Spencer Long projects to fill in as the Redskins' starting center.

Lichtensteiger is solidified as the Redskins' starting center after playing all 58 offensive snaps against the Redskins.
EDGE Analysis
There was some concern surrounding Lichtensteiger's shoulder during the preseason, but clearly the veteran has fully recovered given his workload Monday night against the Steelers. The Redskins will need better performance from their offensive line in the future, however, as they produced only 55 rushing yards in Week 1.

Lichtensteiger (shoulder) did not practice Monday, Mike Jones of The Washington Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
The decision to hold Lichtensteiger out of Monday's practice was solely a precautionary one. The team's starting center is dealing with shoulder soreness that is not believed to be serious. There is essentially little to no doubt that the 31-year-old will be ready to play in Washington's season opener.
