Williams will retire on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Williams, who has logged more starts (171 games) at defensive tackle for the Vikings than any other player, signed a one-day deal to retire in Minnesota. The 35-year-old Williams was the ninth overall selection by the Vikings in 2003 and registered 63 sacks, 529 tackles, nine forced fumbles and five interceptions in his 13-year career spent with the Vikings (11 seasons), Seahawks, and Saints (1 season each). At his peak, Williams was one of, if-not-the best defensive tackle in league, selected to six Pro Bowls and named a First-team All-Pro five times.

Williams signed a one-year contract with the Saints on Friday. Williams joins the Saints ahead of his 13th NFL season, spent primarily in Minnesota before a year-long stint last season in Seattle, where he posted 30 tackles and three sacks. In heading to New Orleans, Williams figures to beef up the Saints' front-seven, but it remains to be seen how he'll adjust to playing in a 3-4 scheme like defensive coordinator Rob Ryan's.

Seahawks agreed to terms with DT Kevin Williams, formerly of the Vikings, on a one-year contract. According to ESPN's Ed Werder, the deal is worth "in excess" of $2 million. Williams pondered retirement, but found the amount of money he was willing to play for after three months on the open market. Going on 34, Williams remained a productive player in 2014, particularly against the run. He further fortifies what was already one of the league's stoutest defensive lines.

Free agent DT Kevin Williams said he's recently had conversations with the Vikings. Williams has visited the Giants, Seahawks, and Patriots since free agency kicked off three months ago. The soon-to-be 34-year-old has pondered retirement but admits he wants to continue his career. He hopes to have a deal before training camp. The Vikings could use some depth behind Linval Joseph and company.

Free agent DT Kevin Williams says he'll consider retirement if his financial demands are not met. "If it's not worth the risk of going back out there, I can't say I'll do it," Williams said Thursday. "I don't see (taking a low-value deal) at this point, but you never know. ... I'm not one of those guys that's afraid to go home." Williams visited the Seahawks on Monday, but says "nothing was decided." Williams visited the Giants earlier in April. Going on 34, Williams has been in the league for 11 seasons.

Free agent DT Kevin Williams worked out for the Seahawks on Monday. It's Williams' second visit of free agency; he previously met with the Giants two weeks ago. The soon-to-be 34-year-old would slot in behind Brandon Mebane and Tony McDaniel in Seattle and compete for snaps with Jordan Hill.

Free agent DT Kevin Williams has left his Giants visit without a contract. "Had a good visit and gonna see what happens," Williams said. Going on 34, the G-Men were Williams' first visit. The fact that he's leaving the Big Apple without a deal is an indication his price needs to come down.

Free agent DT Kevin Williams is visiting the Giants. Williams flew into New York on Monday night and had dinner with the Giants' defensive line coach. He'll continue his visit, his first of free agency, on Tuesday. Williams spent the first 11 seasons of his career with the Vikings and was once considered one of the top three-techniques in the game. He's our top remaining free-agent defensive tackle and would give the Giants another vet presence.
