Thomas hauled in three receptions for 26 yards as the Dolphins defeated San Diego 19-17 on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Thomas did manage to catch each of his targets but more was expected from him now that he has been reunited with Adam Gase. Thomas had the best seasons of his career playing under Gase but then again, he also had Peyton Manning throwing him the ball in a pass happy offense, something he doesn't have now.

Thomas won't suit up in Week 1 after the Dolphins' matchup with the Buccaneers was postponed with Hurricane Irma expected to make landfall in South Florida, Kevin Patra of NFL.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The two teams are scheduled to make up the contest Nov. 19 in Week 11 of the regular season, meaning both the Dolphins and Buccaneers will play 16 consecutive weeks to conclude the campaign. Assuming health permits for the tight end over the next week, Thomas will make his season debut Sept. 17 against the Chargers.

Thomas caught two passes for one yard and a touchdown on three targets in Thursday's preseason game against the Eagles.
EDGE Analysis
Thomas took advantage of a bunch formation to get open in the front corner of the end zone for a one-yard touchdown on Jay Cutler's final pass attempt of the night. The 29-year-old tight end has alway done his best work near the goal line, which could end up being his primary contribution in an offense that figures to rely on Jay Ajayi, Jarvis Landry and DeVante Parker in high-volume roles.

Thomas (back) caught his only target for a two-yard gain in Thursday's preseason game against the Ravens.
EDGE Analysis
Though he didn't get a target from starter Jay Cutler, the veteran tight end at least proved he's recovered from the back injury that caused him to miss practice time earlier in the week. Thomas may only be fourth or fifth in line for targets on a team featuring the impressive wideout trio of Jarvis Landry, DeVante Parker and Kenny Stills.

Thomas is currently dealing with back tightness, Charles Trainor Jr. of the Miami Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
Thomas missed Monday's practice session due to the discomfort, but fortunately it doesn't sound like something that'll keep him out long. His status still appears to be in question for Thursday's preseason game against the Ravens, though, as the Dolphins only figure to play Thomas if he's fully recovered.

Thomas was held out of Monday's practice due to a back injury, Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
It appears Thomas is being viewed as day-to-day for the time being, but if the injury keeps him out of practice Tuesday, he'll be at greater risk of missing Thursday's preseason tilt with the Ravens. Thomas still shapes up as the Dolphins' top tight end, but after back-to-back disappointing seasons with the Jaguars, he shouldn't be viewed as much more than a middle-tier fantasy option at the position, especially now that he has the disadvantage of familiarizing himself with a new playbook.

Thomas' apparent lack of chemistry with quarterback Ryan Tannehill was a disappointing takeaway from offseason practice sessions, Omar Kelly of the Sun-Sentinel reports.
EDGE Analysis
Thomas was traded to Miami this offseason after catching just 30 passes for 281 yards and four touchdowns in nine games for the Jaguars last year. While that marked Thomas' worst production since his 2011 rookie year, it was also his second straight underwhelming campaign since Jacksonville signed him to a five-year, $46 million contract. Of course, that deal was the reward for back-to-back 12-touchdown campaigns in Denver, which put Thomas at the forefront of fantasy radars at the time. In reuniting with then-Broncos offensive coordinator and now-Dolphins head coach Adam Gase, Thomas seems to have a decent chance of rebounding this season, but indications that he's yet to establish a consistent rapport with Tannehill raises some concern whether that will happen.

The Dolphins have big plans in store for Thomas this season, Armando Salguero reports.
EDGE Analysis
Thomas was acquired from Jacksonville during the offseason and could give the offense a true threat at TE they haven't had since Charles Clay left via free agency. He had has best season when current head coach Adam Gase and Thomas were both in Denver. Granted, that was with Peyton Manning at QB but perhaps Gase does truly know how to get the best out of Thomas.

The Dolphins plan to use Thomas in the red zone much more frequently than Jacksonville did, Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
Adam Gase coached Thomas when he scored 24 touchdowns over two seasons with Denver and plans once again to take advantage of his skills in the red zone. While a return to those glory days would seem unlikely, Thomas should reach pay dirt more than the nine times he did with the Jaguars over the past two seasons.

Thomas restructured his contract to eliminate $12.6 million, essentially turning it into a two-year, $12.2 million deal with $7.5 million guaranteed, The South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports.
EDGE Analysis
Thomas wouldn't have been traded if he wasn't willing to restructure the five-year, $46 million contract he signed with the Jaguars in March of 2015. He was still dealt for a pittance -- a seventh-round pick -- but the willingness to renegotiate at least helped him land with a team that looks like an excellent fit. In addition to having a clear need at tight end, the Dolphins are coached by Adam Gase, who was Thomas' offensive coordinator with the Broncos in 2013 and 2014. The 28-year-old tight end had 24 touchdowns in 27 games between those two seasons, highlighted by a 65-788-12 receiving line in 2013 (14 games)
