Akins caught two passes for 38 yards on three targets against Jacksonville on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Akins has been productive on a per-snap basis in 2022, but he hasn't been able to scale up that production over a bigger workload. It's possible that Akins could do more if the Texans gave him more snaps, but with Brevin Jordan and O.J. Howard also in the mix, his opportunity is capped to an extent.

Akins caught all three of his targets for 39 yards in Saturday's 19-14 win over the Titans.
EDGE Analysis
Akins continued his career renaissance with another three grabs, giving him 31 receptions and 387 yards for the season, tops among the team's tight ends. The 30-year-old was off the radar to start the season, but Akins has moved to the top of the depth chart since joining the active roster in Week 3. Houston's passing attack is unreliable, but with Nico Collins (foot) done for the season and Brandin Cooks dealing with injuries, Akins has averaged 4.4 targets and scored twice over the last five weeks. He leads all Houston pass-catchers with three TDs and is second with nine red-zone targets.

Akins brought in three of six targets for 22 yards and a touchdown in the Texans' 30-24 overtime loss to the Chiefs on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Akins recorded a 12-yard scoring grab late in the third quarter that gave the Texans a brief lead. The veteran tight end's touchdown was his third of the season, and he's now posted at least three receptions in three of the last four contests. Akins should continue to profile as an occasional red-zone threat during a Week 16 road matchup versus the Titans on Saturday afternoon.

Akins caught three of six targets for 21 yards in Sunday's 27-14 loss to the Browns.
EDGE Analysis
Akins, who has been the tight end target leader for the last several games, was given competition for targets by Brevin Jordan (five), who had been a healthy inactive the previous three weeks. If Houston plans to have Jordan active going forward, or if rookie Teagan Quitoriano's role continues to grow, Akins' opportunities could diminish.

Akins caught five of five targets for a team-high 61 yards and a 25-yard touchdown catch in Sunday's 30-15 loss to Miami in Week 12.
EDGE Analysis
Akins hauled in his first touchdown since Week 3 and had his fifth catch of more than 20 yards. It's looking like the benching of Brevin Jordan -- at three consecutive weeks and running -- is a permanent decision, so Akins should continue to see the bulk of targets at tight end.

Akins caught two of three targets for eight yards in Sunday's 23-10 loss to Washington in Week 11.
EDGE Analysis
Akins and the rest of the Houston pass-catchers suffered as Davis Mills had one of his worst performances of the season. The Texans manage a total of five yards on offense in the first half and only 148 for the game. Akins has experienced a revival this season and leads the tight end group in receiving yards, but rookie Teagan Quitoriano appears to be pushing for the top spot on the depth chart.

Akins caught three of three targets for 72 yards in Sunday's 24-16 loss to the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
With Brevin Jordan a healthy inactive, Akins ramped up his production after a couple of quiet games. He accounted for Houston's longest play of the game, a 46-yard catch-and-run which set up one of five red-zone opportunities that failed to lead to a touchdown. It's unknown how the Texans plan to use Jordan going forward, but it is a boost to Akins' value if his benching becomes long term.

Akins did not catch his lone target in Thursday's 29-17 loss to the Eagles in Week 9.
EDGE Analysis
For a second consecutive week, Akins was not heavily involved. He had a four-week stretch -- 10 catches, 154 yards, one touchdown -- that hinted at fantasy worth at a notoriously unproductive position. If there was a game where Houston tight ends could make a difference, it was Thursday when both Brandin Cooks (personal) and Nico Collins (groin) were unavailable, but it did not materialize for Akins.

Akins caught one of two targets for five yards in Sunday's 17-10 loss to Tennessee in Week 8.
EDGE Analysis
Akins was one of several skill-position players whose production was subdued on a day when the offense gained just 161 yards. Akins had gained 154 yards on 10 catches, including a touchdown, over the last four weeks, but without a credible running game, quarterback Davis Mills seems unable to carry the offense.

Akins caught three of four targets for a team-high 68 yards in Sunday's 38-20 loss to the Raiders.
EDGE Analysis
He continued his strong play at the tight end position and appears to be clicking with quarterback Davis Mills. Akins was given an opportunity with Brevin Jordan sidelined the last three weeks and played himself from the practice squad to the active roster. However, Jordan returned Sunday and led the position group in snaps, and he could eat into Akins' opportunities going forward.
