Stewart rushed 18 times for 21 yards and brought in all three of his targets for 23 yards in Sunday's 27-24 win over the Lions.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran running back ran into a brick wall on the ground but managed a bit more success through the air, notching season-best reception and receiving yardage totals. Stewart had averaged 4.8 and 4.9 yards per carry, respectively, over the prior two games, so Sunday's result appears to have been the byproduct of an elite performance by the Lions' defensive front. Stewart still appears to retain a very consistent role in the Panthers backfield (between 12 and 18 carries in each game this season) but has yet to find the end zone, as the bulk of team's recent scoring has come through the air. He'll look to better his overall production against the Eagles in a Week 6 showdown on Thursday Night Football.

Stewart received a veteran rest day Thursday, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Charlotte Observer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Stewart typically takes off at least one day of practice per week for rest purposes, which serves as maintenance for the 30-year-old running back. With his health not in question, he'll aim to uphold his standard of nearly 15 carries for 57.5 yards this season, while seeking out his first end-zone visit of 2017 on Sunday at Detroit.

Stewart didn't take part in the Panthers' practice Thursday, Joe Person of The Charlotte Observer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Stewart wasn't listed on the Panthers' first injury report of the week Wednesday, so it's possible that his absence from Thursday's session was just for maintenance-related reasons. The Panthers will issue their second injury report later Thursday, at which point Stewart's status should be more easily ascertained.

Stewart rushed 14 times for 68 yards while failing to catch his lone target in Sunday's 33-30 win at New England.
EDGE Analysis
Stewart wasn't called upon for much with quarterback Cam Newton throwing three touchdowns and rushing for another. Even with well-known vulture Mike Tolbert now in Buffalo, Stewart still has to compete with the big-bodied Newton for goal-line carries and is yet to score a rushing touchdown this season. On a positive note for Stewart, rookie first-rounder Christian McCaffrey gained just 16 yards on six carries and is being utilized as a receiving back while ceding the majority of work on the ground to the veteran.

Stewart rushed 12 times for 57 yards in Sunday's 34-13 loss to the Saints.
EDGE Analysis
Stewart also caught one of his two targets for four yards. The veteran's day was highlighted by a 17-yard gain early on, helping him finish as his team's leading rusher. While Stewart was handed 12 of Carolina's 22 carries, rookie Christian McCaffrey still accumulated over 100 yards of offense thanks to nine receptions. With Greg Olsen (foot) out and the prognosis of Kelvin Benjamin (knee) to be determined, it's possible McCaffrey would take on a larger role in the passing game, potentially leaving Stewart to carry more often.

Stewart carried 15 times for 40 yards in Sunday's 9-3 win over the Bills.
EDGE Analysis
For the second time in as many games to open the 2017 campaign, Stewart proved that rumors of the demise of his lead-back role within the Panthers offense were greatly exaggerated. The veteran back gutted out a tough effort against a feisty Bills front, averaging only 2.7 yards per attempt but still outperforming heralded rookie Christian McCaffrey (eight rushes, 10 yards) on the ground. While Stewart's totals over the first two games are nothing to write home about (33 carries for 105 yards and two receptions for 17 yards), they do serve to alleviate concerns about him possibly being phased out in favor of McCaffrey, at least for the foreseeable future. He'll look to up his production against the beatable Saints in Week 3.

Stewart rushed 18 times for 65 yards and caught both of his targets for 17 yards and a touchdown during Sunday's 23-3 victory over the 49ers.
EDGE Analysis
Stewart was more efficient on the ground than teammate Christian McCaffrey, who took his 13 carries for 47 yards (3.61 YPC). However, the latter was, unsurprisingly, much more involved in the passing game as McCaffrey saw a team-high seven targets compared to Stewart's two. Not to mention, that was just Stewart's seventh career touchdown in the passing game, so don't expect another of those anytime soon.

Stewart gained 39 yards on five carries in Thursday's preseason game against Jacksonville.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran got the starting nod and took a toss for 31 yards on the game's first snap, but Christian McCaffrey still ended up with more touches (five) than Stewart (four) on the opening drive. The Panthers intend to keep both backs heavily involved, with Stewart likely getting the goal-line carries while McCaffrey handles most of the receiving workload. Only time will tell how the rest of the rushing workload is divided.

Stewart rushed four times for eight yards and wasn't targeted in the passing game during Saturday's loss to the Titans in Week 2 of preseason.
EDGE Analysis
Stewart got the first four carries for his team, but eighth overall pick Christian McCaffrey proved much more effective with 72 yards and a touchdown on his five touches. While the two running backs have been operating in a timeshare thus far, Stewart will need to step it up if he doesn't want his role to shrink in a hurry.

Stewart totaled four yards on two carries in Wednesday's preseason opener versus the Texans.
EDGE Analysis
Stewart only played a couple of series before handing the reins over to rookie Christian McCaffrey. Although McCaffrey is expected to play a large part in Carolina's offense this term, Stewart is rightfully the team's workhorse tailback, explaining why he was hardly involved to start the exhibition slate.
