According to Pro Football Weekly, the Seahawks are becoming "increasingly concerned" with TE John Carlson's shoulder injury.
The injury is to his labrum, which makes us wonder if it's a tear. He's been sidelined for over a week. Carlson's role in Seattle was dramatically reduced following the Zach Miller signing, so the team may not save his roster spot.

Seahawks TE John Carlson has been sidelined since Saturday with a "labrum issue" in his shoulder.
Carlson isn't assured a roster spot after the coaching staff soured on him down the stretch this season, so any injury and missed time hurts. Carlson has been working as Zach Miller's backup. Cam Morrah would be a more athletic backup.

ESPN's John Clayton suggests the Seahawks could package TE John Carlson with a draft pick for Giants DE Osi Umenyiora.
This is putting the cart before the horse. As far as we know, the Giants have turned the page on free agent Kevin Boss. "They can fit Carlson in and maybe try to work out something later with [Boss]," Clayton said. "It's just one of those options that are there." It sounds like obvious dot-connecting, though Clayton, NFL Network's Jason LaCanfora, and the New York Daily News have all connected the Seahawks to Umenyiora.

Offensive line coach Tom Cable made it clear Tuesday that he plans to use both Zach Miller and John Carlson at tight end.
"We now have two fantastic tight ends," Cable said. "They're going to complement each other the right way." We just don't see it. Neither player is an above-average blocker, and their receiving skill-sets are similar. Miller is simply the better player, which leaves Carlson without an offensive role. Given some time, it's a good bet Seattle will entertain offers for Carlson.
