Afterward, Garoppolo told Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle that he was dealing with soreness in the knee in question, which Shanahan reiterated Monday. Still, it appears Garoppolo will be fine moving forward.

Garoppolo also experienced good fortune on the field when he had an early interception reversed by a defensive penalty, followed by his lone touchdown coming on a deflection off of a defender that landed safely in Jauan Jennings's hands in the back of the end zone. The end result was another solid performance from Garoppolo in a 49ers win, something both parties are hoping to repeat against a red-hot Miami squad next Sunday.

Garoppolo topped two passing touchdowns in a regular season game for the first since Week 6 of the 2020 campaign. He found Brandon Aiyuk and George Kittle each for a pair of scores, which came from seven, 39, 13 and 32 yards. Garoppolo was denied a bigger game from a yardage perspective by game script, as he attempted only eight passes in the second half and was held out of a majority of the fourth quarter. While this was an outlier performance for Garoppolo, he does have multiple touchdown throws in five of his last six games.

Garoppolo completed 19 of 28 pass attempts for 240 yards and rushed five times for three yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 22-16 win over the Chargers.

Garoppolo failed to throw for a touchdown for the first time this season, but he punched in a rushing score from one yard out on his third quarterback sneak of the game. The veteran signal-caller has been fairly consistent in 2022 -- contrary to what we've seen in previous years -- and he just got more weapons back from injury following the bye week. Garoppolo's high floor makes him a great bye week fill-in for Week 11 when the 49ers take on the Cardinals next Monday.

Seemingly unwanted by both his team and fantasy managers to begin the year, Garoppolo has quietly put up strong results with 1,691 passing yards and 11 touchdowns to four interceptions through seven games (six starts) heading into the upcoming bye week. Jimmy G and the 49ers will resume play against the Chargers on Nov. 13.

Garoppolo continued his career-long struggles against the Chiefs, falling short here after losing to Patrick Mahomes in Super Bowl LIV. From a fantasy perspective, the veteran quarterback has produced well while playing from behind in his team's last two blowout losses. Even with the recent increased volume, Garoppolo's limitations as a downfield passer dampens any appeal heading into a matchup against a tough Rams defense next Sunday.
