Smith had a tryout with the Titans on Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of Sportstalk 790 Houston reports.
EDGE Analysis
Smith was let go by Green Bay in early November, but he received a look from the Titans just over a month later. He appeared in six games with the Cowboys and Packers earlier in the year and totaled 19 tackles (14 solo).

Smith was released by the Packers on Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
After being released by the Cowboys, Smith signed a one-year deal with the Packers on Oct. 7. He played just 24 defensive snaps across two games before being a healthy inactive for Green Bay's Week 8 win over the Cardinals. The Packers also added Whitney Mercilus, who has played 57 defensive snaps over his first two games with his new club, so Smith found himself as the odd man out once again. The talented linebacker will be in search of a new opportunity during the 2021 campaign.

Smith (coach's decision) is inactive for Thursday's game against the Cardinals.
EDGE Analysis
Smith signed with the Packers in early October after being cut by the Cowboys, and he's already a healthy scratch for his new team. He played only 24 defensive snaps in the past two games and isn't suiting up Thursday.

Smith is unlikely to play in Sunday's matchup against the Bengals, Ryan Wood of the Green Bay Press-Gazette reports.
EDGE Analysis
Smith signed a one-year deal with Green Bay on Thursday, but coach Matt LaFleur acknowledged that the linebacker will need some time to get up to speed with the team's system. Once the 26-year-old makes his Packers debut, he should start and play a prominent role.

Smith agreed to terms Thursday with the Packers on a one-year deal, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
Shortly after Smith was cut loose by the Cowboys on Tuesday, the linebacker-needy Packers emerged as one of the top suitors for his services. Though he spent most of Wednesday weighing offers from various clubs, Smith ultimately committed to Green Bay, as expected. After falling behind Micah Parsons, Leighton Vander Esch and Keanu Neal in the pecking order in Dallas, Smith should have a clearer path to recapturing a starting role with the Packers. While working as a full-time starter for Dallas in 2020, Smith was one of the top IDP performers at his position, finishing with 154 tackles, five pass breakups, two fumble recoveries, 1.5 sacks and an interception in 16 games.

Smith is considering his options, but the Packers seem to be the favorite to sign the linebacker, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Ian Rapoport reported earlier Wednesday that the Packers were finalizing details of a contract with Smith, but other teams still are in the mix to land the sixth-year pro. Smith has three seasons with at least 100 tackles under his belt and has averaged 7.6 tackles per game for his career, so he'll likely be a boon to the middle of whichever defense he joins.

Smith will sign with the Packers, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
Smith's standing with the Cowboys was in peril from the time the team selected Micah Parsons in the first round of the 2021 draft. In Weeks 2 and 3, Smith received a far amount of work because Parsons was tasked with helping out a banged-up group of edge rushers, producing 13 tackles in those two games. But the writing always was on the wall, and Dallas cut him loose Tuesday. It didn't take long for Smith to find a new home, and he'll have a chance to get in the lineup quickly next to De'Vondre Campbell at inside linebacker.

Smith was cut by the Cowboys on Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 2016 second-round pick played only 27 defensive snaps during Sunday's win over the Panthers and has now been let go by the Cowboys. He recorded 154 tackles (89 solo), 1.5 sacks and one interception in 16 games last season, but he struggled to find a role under new defensive coordinator Dan Quinn this year. Smith inked a five-year, $64 million extension in 2019 but didn't come close to playing out the deal in Dallas.

Smith recorded nine tackles (six solo) in Sunday's 20-17 overtime win against the Chargers.
EDGE Analysis
After logging 25 percent of the snaps and four tackles in Week 1, the tables flipped in Week 2 when Micah Parsons was moved to defensive end following DeMarcus Lawrence's foot injury. Smith handled 75 percent of the snaps against the Chargers and was back to his usual self. It may be difficult to keep tabs on his usage, but he's worth holding onto for IDP purposes, as he posted 296 tackles between the 2019 and 2020 seasons.

Smith may not be in line for a starting role at linebacker this season, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Whether a defensive player starts or not doesn't always matter a great deal in the modern era as teams shift frequently between packages, but based on usage in training camp and the preseason, Smith appears to be fourth on the overall linebacker depth chart for the Cowboys behind Leighton Vander Esch, first-round pick Micah Parsons and free-agent signing Keanu Neal. The latter seems locked into a role on passing downs and Parsons' impressive play in camp has had him on the field in all situations, which leaves Smith fighting for early-down work with Vander Esch. Both returning veterans have been IDP studs when healthy in their Dallas careers, but Smith in particular could be in danger of having his tackle numbers crater simply due to a lack of snaps. His own poor play in preseason action isn't making much of a case for a bigger workload either, and were it not for his contract, the 26-year-old might not have a roster spot waiting for him at all.
