The Panthers are placing Brooks on the physically unable to perform list, ruling him out for the entire 2025 season.
EDGE Analysis
Players can return from the PUP list when placed on it at the start of training camp or before Week 1, but not if they get the designation this early in the offseason. Brooks tore the ACL in his right knee each of the past two years, bringing his college career to an early conclusion and then limiting his rookie season to three games. The Panthers took him in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 46th overall, but they'll now move forward with Chuba Hubbard, Rico Dowdle and Trevor Etienne as the main candidates to take carries in 2025.

Droppable in every format.

The only RB that I can remember coming back from 2 ACLs on the same leg was Frank Gore, but he had over a year and a half between his and Brooks tore his slightly over a year. Hopefully he makes it back in 2026, but not sure they make em like Gore anymore.

they should try getting a 7th rnd draft pick for him....

He doesn't turn 22 until July, they'll give him a chance to comeback.

might b time to move on as they have 3 good RBs now... dont throw good money after bad...

After tearing his ACL and MCL in 2011, Adrian Peterson returned to a dominant level in 2012, earning the MVP award. Not exactly the same as two ACL’s back to back but that ACL/MCL injury at the same time was major and it was a 1 in a million chance of returning at a high level. He was a freak of nature. Jamal Charles is another.

Rico is only signed for 2025, and I'm pretty certain you can't trade players on PUP. Brooks is going to get a chance in 2026 but it's possible he never plays another game.

brooks isnt adrian peterson... if he were a 1rst rnd draft pick it would b different... but the panthers only have him for 2026, then hes a 2nd rnd tender restricted FA.... i mean sure right now he not costing anything and he doesnt take up a roster slot., so its ok 2 keep him around...
