Smith suffered a concussion in Monday's loss to Philadelphia and was unable to practice Wednesday or Thursday. The safety must clear the league's concussion protocols in order to be able to play Sunday against Detroit. If he's unable to clear protocols, expect either rookie Lewis Cine or Josh Metellus to replace Smith in the Vikings' secondary.
