The NFL's player reps did not vote on the new drug policy Tuesday night, as expected, so Gordon will have to wait a little longer before learning whether his indefinite ban could be overturned, the Cleveland Plain Dealer's Mary Kay Cabot reports. Supposedly, the 32 reps decided that the policy needed to be revised before voting on it, but ESPN's Ed Werder reported that a vote could come as soon as Wednesday, and suspended players expecting reinstatement believe playing soon is possible. In Gordon's case, his ban could be overturned altogether, because under the new agreement, he wouldn't have tested positive for marijuana. Those who own Gordon will want to monitor his status closely Wednesday, as a vote could be imminent.

Surely you are suspended under the rules that are in place at the time. I don't understand why the league would want to do this after the start of the season.

rmaxtpmx Wed 9/10/14 11:58 AM

it's all because of ray rice. there was a lash out because rice's punishment should have been more severe than for a guy who likes pot. so this is them reaching towards the extreme, to try to prove that they don't condone punching women in the face.

likes25 Wed 9/10/14 2:51 PM

But, but Gordon was hitting Mary Jane repeatedly, so we suspended him for a year.

StealRain Wed 9/10/14 11:08 PM

Lmao ^^^^^^^^

tcostant Thu 9/11/14 11:19 AM

The rule is for the new league year, which started in March.

Every poor joker that has lost time over these crazy rules/laws should be reinstated. Marijuana, not a real problem for adults. Prohibition is a joke.

Donnie_Loveboat Wed 9/10/14 1:34 AM

twould certainly be a fortunate turn of events for fellow gordon, but what about our goodman justin blackmon? could he also somehow canoodle his way back into the league if these reforms are passed?

[Deleted User] Wed 9/10/14 7:27 AM

I think Blackmon can apply for reinstatement week 9. Gordon went Undrafted in my redraft leagues so I added him last weekend just in case there is a ruling in a week or 2.....hopefully before bye weeks when I will surely need the roster room......my goodman.

SomeBigAssTDss Wed 9/10/14 8:30 AM

blackmon is done... he's on indefinite suspension and he was arrested recently while being on indefinite suspension.... he's done.

NickalusSmith Wed 9/10/14 10:28 AM

ok, Mark Twain.

SomeBigAssTDss Wed 9/10/14 11:28 AM

that makes absolutely no sense you incompetent baboon

PhilthyAnimal Wed 9/10/14 11:55 AM

Haha

budsal Wed 9/10/14 1:03 PM

Wait didn't Gordon just get arrested for DUI? Asking the baboon....while suspended?

dannteau Thu 9/11/14 8:31 AM

Welker and Gordon would be reinstated because the league's stance is that it's not fair to the players that they couldn't hammer out a new deal before the season started. If they would have gotten this done in the offseason, like they were planning on, neither player would have been suspended. Blackmon was suspended last year under the policy that was in place for the entire 2013 season, which is why he would not be eligible for automatic reinstatement..... I hope that made sense

BlackOmega Wed 9/10/14 1:30 AM

And as the world turns so go the days of our lives for all my suspended children

Brother_Brigham Wed 9/10/14 1:42 AM

Hahahaha! You're telling me. I have Rice, Welker, AND Gordon sitting on my bench.

Herneker Wed 9/10/14 4:32 AM

You can officially drop Ray Rice dude. Why the hell is he still sitting on your bench?

Brother_Brigham Wed 9/10/14 8:41 AM

I did, was waiting for waivers to clear.

PhilthyAnimal Wed 9/10/14 11:56 AM

So keep this fool or not

bgranger Wed 9/10/14 3:00 PM

You think wes welker and josh Gorden will play in week 2 ???

TheShaguars Wed 9/10/14 3:13 PM

no way they play Week 2. Maybe Week 3, hopefully by Week 4.

I have welker, gordon, and blackmon on my dynasty team.

patsfan115 Wed 9/10/14 3:42 PM

Blackmon wont be back I don't think. His issues are more criminal. Gordon just kept failing league drug tests. No arrests. Blackmon on the other hand has had legal issues. I think they'll draw a line between the two players.

bgranger Wed 9/10/14 7:24 PM

Should I pick him up. Or should I pass. It could help me a lot or hurt me. I could either get a rb off the waiver or him.

goblizz Wed 9/10/14 7:51 PM

If you are struggling at RB, pick up a RB. If you have an IR spot or are pretty solid at RB and are just looking for a backup, get him. Once I heard the news, I added him to my IR spot :)

nipskins Wed 9/10/14 10:12 PM

Why are you even debating. Would you debate whether to scoop Calvin up?

nipskins Wed 9/10/14 10:13 PM

I have him in all 3 leagues. Two keepers. Got him in FA in one keeper league muhahahahaha

RodGentile Wed 9/10/14 10:30 PM

Here is the thing....we are all waiting on tbe NFLPA vote. The risk/reward factor is too great just to let him sit on the wire. He is the kind of receiver who could literally take you to the playoffs FF. Pick him up week1 and sit on him...if it doesnt work...voila..... a spot open on your bench in time for bye weeks to start!

Herneker Thu 9/11/14 1:29 AM

He will absolutely be reinstated. No question about it. And they're not going to be able to reduce his sentence because if he is reinstated it is because his levels will have been too low to generate a failing test. I almost feel like they're purposely waiting so that him and Welker both end up getting the obligatory "2 game suspension". Gordon will play. Mark my words. And if you have him on your team pay yourself on the back for being more on the ball than the other people in your league.

Herneker Thu 9/11/14 1:29 AM

"Pat" yourself on the back rather

KobraCola Thu 9/11/14 4:24 AM

Are we forgetting the DWI/DUI Gordon received too? Since he's been previously punished, that could keep his suspension going for a while by itself.

nipskins Thu 9/11/14 6:16 AM

No we aren't. With the new rule regarding testing in the NFL, Gordon would never have failed in the first place so a two game suspension for dui will be more than enough punishment for the charge. TIME SERVED BITCHES!

abailey3313 Thu 9/11/14 9:55 AM

One of the sticking points of these negotiations is whether punishment for DUI/DWIs will be based on arrests or convictions. As of right now, Gordon was arrested for DWI but he hasn't been convicted.

BunzaiDrop Thu 9/11/14 11:46 AM

All I know is bell and Blount still playing

KobraCola Thu 9/11/14 12:33 PM

The DWI/DUI is separate from the cannabis thing. He tested positive above the arbitrary threshold the NFL had in place, which is what the new drug policy might change. The DWI/DUI was for driving drunk; it had nothing to do with pot. He also has a possession of marijuana charge from police, not the NFL, that might come into play. Admittedly the NFL/Goodell are in an extremely weak bargaining position right now, but I doubt they let him come back immediately with no further punishment when there were things besides the positive cannabis tests on his record that resulted in the year-long suspension.

bgranger Thu 9/11/14 4:01 PM

Their saying 6-10 game for Gorden.
