The NFL and the NFL player's union are close to an agreement that would modify the sport's drug policies and potentially could result in a reduced or overturned suspension for Gordon, the Washington Post reports. "If we get a deal done that covers players in this league year, I don't like that we punish players under a deal active in the old league year," NFL players union director DeMaurice Smith told 106.7 The Fan in Washington, DC, which was relayed by NFL.com's Albert Breer.
The new drug agreement would reportedly include testing for HGH and reduce the threshold for what would constitute a positive test for marijuana. Gordon's positive test for marijuana was reportedly below the new threshold of levels of the drug in a test, and thus opens the potential that his suspension could be reduced. However, there are many obstacles for Gordon's suspension to be altered including that the Washington Post report says the new drug policy would have to be agreed to before Sunday to impact previous suspensions. Plus, it's not clear that the two sides would both agree to modify prior suspensions. There's some hope here that Gordon's penalty could be reduced, but it still looks like a major long shot.
I ended up at the back end of a 10 team PPR draft (one of my more important leagues with close friends and a lot of obey on the line) that starts RB/RB/WR/WR/WR/Flex/Flex and Mega fell to me. So I went Mega/Demaryius and then was able to grab Gio/Morris on the next turn with Cordarrelle/Vereen the next turn. I hope this goes through because that would give me a wicked PPR starting lineup!
The NFL is finally realizing that all their players smoke weed. I don't see how you overturn a previous ruling because the rules change though. When marijuana is legal at the federal level do you think they are going to release all those previously convicted of marijuana charges...I don't think so.
Not knowing the stats I'm making a guess that almost nobody in prison for marijuana is in there for having recreational quantities on hand which is all legality will be. It's not like drug dealers will suddenly be allowed to drive around with 10 pounds of it in the car.
yes, im pretty sure they will, in fact its one of the best arguments for legalization. complete waste of taxpayer dollars, and we all know how the gov't hates waste.
to say they are wasting money or not making money is false. the government makes billions in profit from seized cash and property (gold, diamonds, cars,, guns houses/land and so on). this fact is often swept under the rug. the best way to win on the federal level is to prove that they can make even more in taxes and still maintain the current levels of drug use and crime without it spinning out of control. hence the states experiments without the feds raiding the "legal" growers and sellers. this experiment should bring light to the thought that this is a "gateway" drug. if everyone acts right, the feds will back down on a national level. if Colorado turns into junkie heaven and the crime rate spikes, the feds will come mop up the mess and the debate will be closed for another 100 years.
I too would take the suspended Gordon over D.Bowe. Gordon still has a better chance of making a play this year, be it in a parking lot during half-time. Bowe could beat my grandmother if she was covering him but my mom would lock him down, hyperbolically speaking and all. The man has gotten slow and become a sloppy route runner. So glad he got paid all ready.
If reversed I will have Gordon, Megatron and Dez at WR 1 and 2 amd Flex. Nasty boys. With Keenan Allen, Roddy White and Colston behind them. With Forte as my lead back.
Nope a 10 team keeper. I kept Dez traded for Megatron, drafted Roddy, Keenan, Colston and just dropped Shorts for the available Gordon. So really hoping this gets over turned. I would be set. And seeing I can only play 3 I will trade someone for a much needed RB. After Forte (kept) I have Spiller, Fred Jackson, Joique Bell, Ingram and Turbon.
