The Chiefs are in the process of negotiating a new contract with free agent DL Shaun Smith. Smith suddenly became a priority after the Chiefs lost starting nose tackle Ron Edwards to the Panthers. Sixth-round pick Jerrell Powe is the only nose tackle left on the roster, although Smith played left defensive end last season.
