Texans coach Gary Kubiak told reporters Monday the team will not decide Matt Schaub's (foot/ankle) Week 7 availability until late in the week. Kubiak said the Texans are going to prepare T.J. Yates and Case Keenum to start at Kansas City. In other words, Yates and Keenum will likely be involved in an in-practice competition to be the starter, in the event Schaub can't play. Schaub has been ineffective when healthy this season, and is now a virtual lock to be well short of 100 percent if active against the Chiefs' (arguably) league-best defense. It's not a good situation for the Texans, who are now 2-4 and quickly evaporating from the 2013 playoff picture.
