Speaking after Friday's preseason game against the Lions, Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley reiterated that Henne will be the team's Week 1 starter, NFL.com reports. Henne completed 9-of-14 passes for 70 yards, turning in a sup-par and uninteresting performance. Bortles provided far more entertainment by going 10-for-16 with 158 yards and a touchdown, but his night would have been much different had the Lions defenders made more of their multiple interception opportunities. Still, Bortles has been the better of the two this preseason, yet the Jags are sticking to their word. The team previously indicated that it wants Bortles to be a spectator for most of his rookie season, and while that may still be true, Henne will likely test their patience. It would be one thing to sit through an entire season of Henne's struggles if Bortles had looked awful this preseason, but it will be hard to justify after the rookie played with surprising poise.
