Seferian-Jenkins only needs a clean bill of health to fulfill his vast potential, according to Bucs tight end coach Jon Embree, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
The third-year tight end's well-publicized shoulder injury last season-- which caused an absence that unexpectedly extended to 10 games-- was cause for considerable consternation among Bucs fans, who eventually began to question Seferian-Jenkins' toughness. However, the University of Washington product was working diligently behind the scenes to get back on the field, and eventually returned for the final five games of the season. The 23-year-old was on pace for 56 receptions and more than 1,100 yards after amassing seven receptions for 139 yards in the two contests before the injury. A full season of health would be the key to Seferian-Jenkins having a breakout campaign according to his position coach, who sympathizes with the injury problems his young charge has encountered in his young NFL career. "Like I told him it's unfortunate because when he gets hurt, it's a 10-game type issue it seems like," Embree said. "So hopefully he can stay healthy and show everybody what he's capable of. I feel bad for him because it means a lot to him, it's important to him and he works. He's done a lot this off-season to continue to improve so I'd like the see him stay healthy not just for the benefit of the team but for him, also."
