Downs no longer has a boot on his injured left ankle as he'd previously been using a boot or scooter at practice, Jake Arthur of Sports Illustrated reports. Downs did not play in Thursday's preseason game.

Downs suffered a left high-ankle sprain during an Aug. 7 practice and was expected to miss four-to-six weeks. It's not clear if he'll be ready for Week 1 of the regular season, but the lack of a boot on his ankle is a positive sign.
