The Buccaneers placed the franchise tag on Godwin on Tuesday, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.

For the second year in a row, Tampa Bay has done as much with Godwin, meaning he'll be due $19.2 million in 2022 if the two sides are unable to come to terms on a long-term deal. Currently, he's in recovery mode from the torn ACL and sprained MCL that he sustained in his right knee back in Week 15. Due to the timing of the injury, Godwin's availability for Week 1 of next season is in question, as is who will be under center for the Bucs once he gets healthy following the retirement of Tom Brady this offseason.
