Running backs coach Jerald Ingram said free agent RB Brandon Jacobs is "hoping and praying and dying" to re-sign with the Giants. Ingram indicated that the Giants have at least thought about bringing back Jacobs, who spent the first seven years of his career with the organization. But he'd only return as a strict backup to Andre Brown, a role Jacobs whined about in San Francisco last season. The Giants don't need the distraction.
