Rookie Review - Week 7 fantasysharks.com Wed 10/16/13 9:00 AM1 Comment

Quarterback Geno Smith -- Smith did not have a lot of time in the pocket because the Pittsburgh Steelers were after him all day. Smith ended up 19-of-34 for 201 yards and two interceptions. He also suffered three sacks and ran three times for eight yards. The Jets could not do much offensively and that may continue with Santonio Holmes still hurt, Mike Goodson out for the year, and Kellen Winslow suspended for four games. You may want to look elsewhere for quarterback help. Mike Glennon -- To be perfectly honest, I didn't think Glennon had much of a chance. But then again, nothing cures what ails you like playing against the Philadelphia defense. Glennon was 26-of-43 for 273 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. He did this with one of his starting wideouts hurt also. How will he do against better defenses? Can he improve once Mike Williams returns? Running Back Giovani Bernard -- Bernard struggled running the ball, but he more than made up for it with his skills in the passing game. Bernard only had 28 yards on 15 rushes against Buffalo; however, he did catch 6-of-7 balls for 72 yards and a very nice touchdown run after the reception. He continues to show that he is exciting with the ball in his hands. Eddie Lacy -- Could we see a change in the game plan for Green Bay? The Packers had two wide receivers go down with injury on Sunday and the depth chart is looking very thin. Green Bay may decide to run the ball more often going forward, and Lacy is just the man to do it. Lacy looked really good on Sunday with 23 carries for 120 yards and he also had one catch for five yards. He may have a bigger workload for a while. Andre Ellington -- Once again this week, Ellington out-produced Rashard Mendenhall. Ellington had seven carries for 56 yards and a touchdown and also had five catches for 36 yards. The coaching staff has talked about Ellington only getting about 30-35 snaps a game because of his size. When will they realize that they should give him more chances to see how he holds up? Ellington deserves the chance to show what he can do. If he is still on your waiver wire, add him. Khiry Robinson -- Robinson continues to do well in the absence of Mark Ingram. Robinson had seven rushes for 53 yards and a touchdown against New England. What will happen when Ingram comes back? Robinson has shown he deserves chances on the field, but will the Saints give him the chance with all the other mouths to feed? Zac Stacy -- It appears that the St. Louis running back job belongs to Stacy. Stacy had another very nice game against a tough Houston defense with 18 carries for 79 yards and two catches for 11 yards. If he is still available in your league, go get him. Joseph Randle -- The injury bug hits again. DeMarco Murray went down with an injury, and his backup is also banged up. In comes Randle, who had 11 carries for 17 yards and a touchdown. The numbers may not look good, but you need to remember that he will have a full week of practice and he looks to be the last man standing at running back for an explosive offense. If you are banged up or have players on a bye he's be worth the risk. Le'Veon Bell -- We were all wondereing if Bell would come back off the bye and look as good against the New York Jets as he did against the Minnesota Vikings. The answer is no. The Jets are playing better defense right now and held Bell to 34 yards rushing on 16 attempts and three catches for 22 yards. Bell should have better weeks ahead, just maybe not this week against Baltimore. Montee Ball -- The Denver Broncos are still trying to give Ball a chance to run for them and prove himself; he just isn't doing much with his chance. He had three rushes for 15 yards. Ball will not offer much until he can secure the ball both running and catching it. Wide Receiver Tavon Austin -- What a waste of a high draft pick. One catch for three yards. Until St. Louis can figure out how to use him, Austin doesn't belong on your roster. DeAndre Hopkins -- The struggles in Houston continue. Matt Schaub is hurt, and the backups look worse. Hopkins had three catches for 47 yards on five targets and a fumble. This team will focus on the running game and not offer much outside of Andre Johnson. Look elsewhere for help. Kenbrell Thompkins -- Tom Brady has a new toy, and he needs it. Stop if you've heard this before, Danny Amendola got hurt. Yeah, I can't believe it either. Thompkins came through in the clutch and caught the game-winning pass from Brady to help New England beat previously unbeaten New Orleans. Thompkins had three catches for 45 yards for the game. He promises to be a key part of the passing game with the injury to Danny Amendola. Aaron Dobson -- Another guy that should get more playing time in New England, Dobson actually played the most snaps at wide receiver last week. Dobson caught six balls for 63 yards on 10 targets, but continues to drop some passes. For some reason, Tom Brady seems to trust him and keeps chucking it his way. That usually means success for that player. Robert Woods -- Woods suffered through some bad quarterbacking on Sunday and caught only two passes for nine yards on six targets. It may be difficult in the coming weeks for Buffalo. Cordarrelle Patterson -- The Buffalo Bills and Robert Woods aren't the only ones suffering from bad quarterback play, as Minnesota looks like it will start its third quarterback of the season this week after a brutal game by Matt Cassel. Patterson only had three yards on two catches. Hopefully Josh Freeman can figure out how to get Patterson more involved. Terrance Williams -- Dallas may have found somebody here. Williams only had two catches for 27 yards with a touchdown, but he seems to be on the field a lot. Like I said last week, he will probably start again with the injury history of both Miles Austin and Dez Bryant. Snag him if he is available. Keenan Allen -- The California native sure is looking good. He looked fantastic in the spotlight of Monday Night with nine catches for 107 yards and a touchdown on 12 targets. That is two straight weeks with more than 100 yards and a touchdown. He is on the field more and more each week and is becoming a favorite of Philip Rivers. Get him! Kenny Stills -- Stills hasn't been able to grab the bull by the horns with Lance Moore out. He did get a "Hail Mary" touchdown, but otherwise did not do much. He is not worth your trouble. Marquise Goodwin -- Finally healthy, Goodwin saw his first game action of the year. He had two catches for 51 yards and a touchdown. With Stevie Johnson almost healthy again, he is not someone to look at right now. Marlon Brown -- I figured the Baltimore Ravens would pass more to keep up with the Green Bay Packers. Brown only had three catches for 71 yards. I thought he would see more. Really kind of disappointed. Tight End Tyler Eifert -- Not much going on here with the recent struggles of Andy Dalton. Two catches for 13 yards on three targets. Zach Ertz -- Rumor has it that Ertz may see more action for Philadelphia. He hasn't seen much yet. He only had three catches for 13 yards on six targets. Monitor this because coach Chip Kelly liked his tight ends at Oregon. Jordan Reed -- Reed has taken over again now that he is healthy. Reed had four catches for 58 yards. He is a very good athlete and may surprise in the second half of the year. He might be worth a spot on your bench for now. Tim Wright -- How is that for an entrance? Maybe it is due to the new quarterback in Tampa Bay, or maybe it was the opponent, but Wright announced his presence. He had seven catches for 91 yards. Will this continue, or is this a mirage? Joseph Fauria -- Seven catches, five touchdowns. How does that sound? Those are his stats for the year. The Detroit Lions may use more two tight end sets with him in the lineup after seeing this kind of production. He had 34 yards on those three touchdowns this week. Mychal Rivera -- Rivera is playing more and getting a few balls each week. He had two catches for 10 yards on three attempts. Will his use go up as the year goes on? Watch list -- Levine Toilolo -- With the injuries to Roddy White and Julio Jones, do the Atlanta Falcons use more two tight end sets? Nothing doing right now: Zach Sudfeld (injured), Denard Robinson, Stepfan Taylor, Christine Michael, Kenjon Barner (injured), Quinton Patton, Travis Kelce (Injured Reserve), Josh Boyce, Johnathan Franklin, Brice Butler, Ace Sanders, Justin Hunter, Markus Wheaton (injured), Vance McDonald, Knile Davis, E.J. Manuel (injured), Jeff Tuel, Gavin Escobar, Benny Cunningham.

Gio Bernard at least 2 TD's and 100 yards total against Lions Defense?
