Smith returned for a limited practice Monday after missing two and a half weeks with an MCL sprain. He'd have a better chance to play if the Eagles were facing the Patriots over the weekend instead of this Thursday, but Smith should at least have time to prepare for the preseason finale against the Jets on Aug. 27. Even if the Eagles do keep him out of the two exhibitions, reports from early training camp suggest Smith will be a Week 1 starter, as he was consistently working with the first unit prior to spraining his knee.
