Evans has agreed to restructure his contract with the Buccaneers, creating $8.9 million in salary cap space, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
It's the typical cap-clearing agreement, converting base salary into bonus money. Evans still gets the same compensation, more or less, and still has three years remaining on a five-year, $82.5 million extension. He'll open his season at home in Tampa Bay next Thursday night, facing a Dallas defense that likely will start CBs Trevon Diggs and Anthony Brown on the perimeter. It's a favorable matchup for Evans, though the 6-foot-2 Diggs at least can match up from a size standpoint.
