Redskins OC Kyle Shanahan indicated Chris Cooley will not replace Fred Davis in the starting lineup. The plan is to use a combination of Cooley, Logan Paulsen, and Niles Paul, depending on personnel packages. According to the Washington Examiner, Cooley "clearly had lost a step" before the Redskins cut him in September. He's not a recommended waiver pickup this week and will likely be outproduced by Paulsen, whom Shanahan says is a "legit tight end now."

Cooley will be fine.....Paulsen really?? Give Cooley 1-2 weeks!

If Paulsen is truly legit now, then why bother signing Cooley?

gomerp13 Thu 10/25/12 4:59 PM

Veterans leadership n depth. Prob got him relatively cheap too

He's not gonna have much instant leadership in a locker room he's been gone from for so long. Particularly on offense, many of the Skins most important players right now have never played with Cooley before.

And if they only needed depth at the position, they could've pulled up someone from the practice-squad. For even cheaper.

Cooley's knee can't be great anymore and he was never particularly fast to begin with, but even so, I just can't see Paulsen being a more attractive option than Cooley in the passing-game. Paulsen is as slow as Cooley, and doesn't have hands as good as Cooley's. Paulsen is a blocking specialist and always has been. Even his receptions last Sunday were flukes that came off of broken plays, not deliberate targets.

I don't know that either guy will be a fantasy factor this season, but I have more trouble seeing Paulsen becoming a factor than I do Cooley.

Is someone forcing you to take one or the other? Neither will be productive. Move on.

cogwheel Thu 10/25/12 10:32 PM

Just discussion, dude.

Entertaining to see you take this so serious about 2 totally useless TE's, but maybe you have a man-crush on one...or both! One of them might score 0 pts, but the other could rake in 1 point! :-)

Kinda like contemplating...who would be hotter in bed, Roseann Barr or Rosie O'Donnell.

Lmao!!! Hahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

I know right! This cogwheel needs to spew his drivel all over the place. Has to argue his point because he picked up Cooley in his one league that he's 3-4 in. LoL The kind of guy that talks smack about a guy like Tanner, just after picking him up. I agree with you, neither will be productive and he talks about Paulsen only being targeted in "broken plays"... that's all of the Redskins plays are, "broken plays", hence RG 3-4's(his record) rushing yards. He can't ever move on though, he just keeps going and going and going, like a lil b*tch that needs to have the last word on everything!

Paulsen played with Cooley his first two years, I think thats why he kinda "looks" like Cooley on some plays, and RG does target Paulsen. I picked up Paulsen to fill in for Hernandez. Thats all either of these two are anyway, fill-ins.

cogwheel Sat 10/27/12 6:48 AM

RG3 has targeted Paulsen on non-broken plays a grant total of *once* all season long.

Again, all four receptions last week were on broken plays in which RG3 scrambled to extend the play, looking for any open man. It just happened to be Paulsen who was open.

*grand

gebs Wed 10/31/12 6:50 PM

You're over exaggerating...as if all passing plays that don't go to the first read are "broken". RG throws Paulsen’s' way a lot... he seems to over throw Paulsen a lot.

Riggs44R Wed 10/31/12 10:13 PM

He had more trouble seeing Paulsen become a factor than Cooley. LMAO!!! I guess seeing is believing.... but then again, maybe not with this guy!

DCLove Fri 10/26/12 8:05 PM

Yeah, real cheap. He was gonna sign for a case of beer.
