Panthers WLB Omar Gaither has been diagnosed with a sprained left MCL, and will be sidelined 2-to-4 weeks. Gaither has been starting since Thomas Davis was lost for the season in Week 2. His loss is bad news for a team also missing Jon Beason and sporting the league's 28th ranked run defense. Jason Williams will take his place in the starting lineup. Gaither will likely return following the Panthers' Week 9 bye. Opposing running backs remain a must-start against Carolina.
