Orton, in his first start since taking over for EJ Manuel, completed 30-of-43 passes for 308 yards with one touchdown and one interception Sunday against the Lions. Orton struggled early, throwing a pick-six in the second quarter to fall behind 14-0, but the Bills' defense held the Lions scoreless after that and Orton did just enough to bring them back. He threw a two-yard touchdown pass to backup tight end Chris Gragg with 9:23 left in the fourth quarter to tie the game before moving the ball 20 yards on the final drive to set up Dan Carpenter's game-winning 58-yard field goal to move the Bills to 3-2. Orton connected with 10 different receivers, throwing 12 times to rookie wideout Sammy Watkins, who caught seven of them for 87 yards. Orton wasn't spectacular, but he surely did enough to keep the starting job for at least one more week. The downside: he'll have to face off against a Patriots defense that is ranked first in the league against the pass this season.
