Orton has agreed to a deal with the Bills, ESPN's James Walker reports. Rather than roll with Jeff Tuel as the only backup on the roster behind EJ Manuel, the Bills will turn to Orton for an established veteran for the No. 2 rule. As long as Manuel remains healthy, Orton seems unlikely to take over as the team's starting quarterback in 2014.

By mid-season, the only thing that will keep Manuel in the job over Orton is Doug Marrone's ego.

Brett Favre part 2. Didnt like his situation so he 'retired' so he could go somewhere else. Prick.

It was definitely bizarre especially with the money he was going to get from Dallas. Maybe he just didn't want to go through camp I guess.

He was released by the Boys.

"Free agent QB Kyle Orton doesn't plan to retire and wants to play this season. Cowboys owner/GM Jerry Jones says Orton was going to report to training camp. Apparently the Cowboys didn't want him there, and wanted him to retire, so they cut him. Brandon Weeden is Tony Romo's backup. Orton will try to find a job as a clipboard holder likely at some point near the end of summer. Jul 23 - 6:33 PM"

Then why were they trying so hard to get him to report to camp?

I know but prior to that happening he said he was retiring and wasn't showing up to camp even though he had a big bonus from it. The story changed a bit once they released him.

Jerry knows best.

I'm sure he and AP talked it over before he released Orton.

That explains all those super bowls in the last 20 years. lol

i think Orton burned the boys. he held out insisting he dont want to play and will retire. Jerry released him and let that fat bonus go as a retirement gift and a month later he is back as the instant #2 for the Bills. spin it any way you want JJ.... BURN.

Yeah that was pretty crappy, does Jerry have any recourse at all since he signed with another team?

Now that Orton is back up North, could this lead to the return of the neck beard??

Ghost_Lombardi Fri 8/29/14 10:34 PM

Why? He's an immediate upgrade. At 50 years old with cataracts he'd be an immediate upgrade.

[Deleted User] Fri 8/29/14 10:54 PM

Even Pryor would be an immediate upgrade. EJ Manuel is trash and the Buffalo coaching staff is completely out of their element in the NFL. I can't wait for a new owner, fire Marrone (probably by week 7), and make a splash hire in the offseason. That is best case scenario right now and hopefully Spiller makes it through with a new contract, but write this year off for Buffalo in fantasy once again.

agreed. not sure why teams would draft a QB high, knowing he would be a long term project AND start him right away. then back him up with Touel and Lewis.... Brilliant. here comes Old Orton to save the day?.

QB's don't get grace periods anymore and then are cast aside when they don't perform even when they are project qb's....really amazes me.

win now or get out of the way.
