NFL Network confirms the Vikings will start Josh Freeman this week if they're satisfied with his understanding of the playbook. FOX's Jay Glazer reportedly similarly on Tuesday night. Per Ian Rapoport, the Vikings "loved [Freeman] predraft, and are impressed now." He adds that he they feel he isn't quite ready, they'll roll with Christian Ponder instead of Matt Cassel. But given the Monday night start and the desperate need to get some continuity at the position, we fully expect Freeman to get the call. On paper, his big arm will be a good weapon against teams looking to stack the box to stop Adrian Peterson. Freeman is a QB2 heading into this tasty matchup with the Giants.
