Newton (shoulder) is expected to begin throwing again next week, Max Henson of Panthers.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Newton is working his way back after undergoing surgery to repair a partially torn rotator cuff in his throwing shoulder on March 30th. That procedure coincided with a 12-week timetable to begin throwing on the sidelines, which if Newton is indeed able to do next week, would put him slightly ahead of schedule. After four weeks of that, Newton would then graduate to throwing with his teammates on the field, before eyeing a return for training camp in July. As it stands, it seems that's a realistic expectation for Newton, but his progress will still need to be tracked throughout the summer, with a focus on his first throwing session next week.
