Moore (undisclosed injury) practiced for the first time in three weeks on Wednesday, and is unlikely to regain his starting spot, the Contra Costa Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Moore recorded 90 tackles and three sacks in just 11 games last year as the starting weak-side linebacker, but injuries kept him out of the remaining five. He's now started 22 games after over his first two seasons but coach Jack Del Rio stated that "He thinks Moore is competing to be a role player somewhere" after the amount of time he's missed. Moore had offseason hip surgery and missed the first three weeks of camp which means the new coaching staff has yet to see him on the field at any point. "To try and cram a guy that hasn't played at all in camp into a potential role as a feature player, I think that's a little far-fetched," Del Rio said. Free agent addition Malcolm Smith is listed as the starter at this point, which means Moore's value as an IDP will likely take a big hit.
