Michael Turner rushed 12 times for 83 yards and a touchdown in Thursday night's Week 13 victory over the Saints.
Turner and the run game crammed the football right down New Orleans' throats on the game's opening drive, as he and Jacquizz Rodgers rushed for 71 yards and Turner's three-yard score on just five carries. After that though, there just wasn't much else going on for the Atlanta offense. Turner rushed for just 12 yards on five carries after halftime. He has found pay dirt in three consecutive games thanks to a failing red zone pass offense. Turner will take on Carolina's bottom-10 fantasy run defense in Week 14.
This made no sense for ATL - Mike Smith has fallen in love with pass and is determined to get Mattie Ice going every week - Anyone who watch that 1st drive had no doubt that the Falcons could've handed the ball off 50x's and there's was nothing the Saints could do to stop them - The 2nd drive Rodgers 1 rush (3yds) then 2 incomplete passes (Punt) - 3rd Drive started w/2 12 yd rushes from Turner THEN 3 consecutive incomplete passes from Ryan (Punt) - Ryan was 1 for 6 to start the game - The ONLY drive he put together started on the Saints 49 and proved to be the last TD ATL would get -
The Falcons are obviously a very good team - but their was no reasone the Saints should've stayed with them for almost the the entire game especially w/Brees throwing 5 picks - just bad play calling and it wouldn't surprise me if they get knocked out in their 1st playoff game ths year.
