Meredith was carted off the field after suffering an apparent left knee injury during Sunday's preseason game against Tennessee, Adam Jahns of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

It had the look of a severe injury, with Meredith's knee twisting awkwardly under a defender as he came down with a 16-yard catch. Last year's breakout star was poised to serve as Chicago's top wideout, but it now appears unlikely he'll be available Week 1. With Markus Wheaton (finger) also injured and Kendall Wright primarily limited to slot work, the Chicago passing game could be in trouble if 2015 first-round pick Kevin White doesn't step up.
