Mathis (concussion) was placed on injured reserve Saturday, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Mathis missed the previous three games due to concussion symptoms, so it's not too surprising to see him land on IR. The 35-year-old could found his way onto the field next year, but given his age and injury history it wouldn't be surprising to see him retire at the end of the season.
