Mathews gained 20 yards on five carries in Sunday's loss to Washington. He lost a fumble for the second straight week and was not targeted in the passing game.
EDGE Analysis
A week after racking up 128 yards and a touchdown while deputizing for the injured DeMarco Murray, Mathews returned to a reserve role Sunday and was only sparingly involved in the offense. The 27-year-old's case was not helped by the fact that the Eagles ran the ball just 18 times while playing from behind, but Mathews will seemingly not see a heavy workload for as long as Murray is healthy. Week 5 brings with it a favorable home matchup against the struggling Saints.

Ryan Mathews rushed five times for 20 yards in the Eagles' Week 4 loss to the Redskins.

Mathews was on the field for the first play of the game, but worked behind DeMarco Murray most of the day. Mathews was more effective than Murray, though Murray's stat line looks better because of a 30-yard gain early in the first quarter. Though he may be a better fit for the offense, Mathews is not getting enough work to be a fantasy contributor on a week-to-week basis. Oct 4 - 5:40 PM (rotoworld.com)

And here I was, thinking Murray wasn't playing when I started him. Bleh.
