Osborn looks set to begin the season as the No. 3 wide receiver with Chad Beebe waived due to a foot injury and with Dede Westbrook only recently staring to practice in team drills, The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Osborn could have a meaningful role in the offense initially with Beebe out of the picture, Westbrook unlikely to contribute right away and with Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer saying the offense may need to utilize three-receiver sets more due to tight end Irv Smith's knee injury. Osborn likely has a short window of opportunity since Westbrook could take over the role, Smith could return in a few weeks (his timetable is unclear) and Chris Herndon, who the Vikings traded for Tuesday, could quickly get up to speed. The Vikings under Zimmer haven't typically utilized a third receiver much, but there's a chance Osborn could change their plans.
