The tight end was one of 15 players the Patriots listed as limited Wednesday, but his presence at practice is nonetheless encouraging, given that Smith exited this past Sunday's game against the Jets after suffering a shoulder injury. In order to avoid a Week 8 injury designation, however, Smith will presumably need to practice fully by Friday.
