Gordon has been suspended for one year by the NFL for violating the league's substance-abuse policy, ESPN's Adam Schefter and NFL Network's Albert Breer report.
Per Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, with the league's ruling on the matter having now been upheld on appeal, Gordon will be eligible to apply for reinstatement with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell one year from now. Gordon's 2014 fantasy utility is thus dashed by the news, with the Browns' passing attack now likely to rely heavily on TE Jordan Cameron and a committee of wideouts in order to attempt to fill the significant void created by the now-confirmed absence of Gordon.
Pot would show a lot more health benefits if the gov. hadn't labeled it a schedule 1 drug... worse than cocaine , methamphetamine , morphine , and oxycodone (OxyContin) as bad as heroin and LSD get real. Ignorance is bliss I guess... Never compare a guy that smokes weed to a loser that beats a women. hitting a women one time is to much. And for the record a lot of women that get abused physically and mentally don't report it out of fear one time let alone two or more.. When you get down to it beating your wife doesn't effect the way you play football being under the influence does and the NFL is a business, they care about nothing except the money
With that said the NFL can make there own rules if they don't want you smoking you obey that rule or face the wrath just like any job that requires a drug free workplace . I have to go by those rules and so does most others if you want a good job.
The NFL better figure something out soon at this rate a third of the league will be suspended for pot.
Honestly, I have been seeing Rice being brought up, Rice is not the issue in this situation. Its Josh Gordon not learning his lesson, he got suspended twice in college and once before this suspension. Now he got busted for Weed AGAIN and he got arrested for DWI. Being in the NFL is privilege, just because you were signed by a team doesn't mean you are safe and all big. Its just like having a license, its privilege, it has it rules. Hopefully Gordon learns his lesson to not to do weed. It affects you lungs, one joint does the effect of 1 pack of cigarettes on your lungs. Ray Rice isn't a repeat offender. He must have not done it again if his wife is still with him and he hasn't been arrested for domestic violence. I know many of you will disagree with me but this year suspension might do some good for Gordon.
Thanks for putting a stop to the insults by providing some actual facts. We want to be the morales police while slinging unnecessary insults, without regard for the feelings of others. Maybe we should stick to football on sites like this.
Obviously smoking anything can be detrimental to your health. However, in the large spectrum of things detrimental to your body, pot is seriously super super low on the list. To think that in this day and age we are comfortable with cigarettes being available to the public, which is considerably worse for your health than pot, and we're jailing individuals for taking a couple of rips in the privacy of their own homes...that's just wrong man.
In short, while smoking anything is harmful to your lungs, weed is honestly not as big of a villain as people say he is. I repeat...cigarettes are far far worse. And players are allowed to smoke em!
excellent point mr. gibbs, this suspension was due to prior incidents and did not include his most recent run in with the law. I wonder who is reinstated first, him or blackmon? only time will tell I suppose. atleast the NFL did the right thing and only suspended rice for two games. anything more would have been quite excessive in my book!
the DUI conviction would possibly come down between now and early next year so that has no bearing on the suspension from today, thus possibly sealing the deal on his career.
in my book, RR and every other woman beater should have got 6 games. Warren Moon beat his wife early and often. this problem goes way back and has never been addressed.
perhaps in rice's case she was being "lippy", not to defend the man by any means gentlemen! however, there are always two sides to every story. i'll reserve judgment in matters in which my insight is limited due to lack of information.
RR & the NFL would not be getting so much heat if he did not drag her by her hair and have it caught on camera. a girl being lippy is not an excuse and i am a bit taken that you even laid it out there like that.
how do you propose I lay it out then mr. gibbs? I thought my opinion on this matter was consistent with my past behavior in these hallowed halls of fantasy discourse. my intention was never to perturb you or the other fellows. I assumed you and the regulars were now privy to my ironic musings and good natured ribbing. perhaps I missed the mark on this one, but ray rice sure didn't! heavens fellows I'm on a roll!
ha mha stupid bum, if ya cannt follow the rules, ya cannt play............its the same for everything.........His career is over no big deal and he obviously don't care, so why do you?
The nfl doesn't care about your lungs weed impairs your judgement and and is illegal plain and simple if you are defending weed you are a stoner and probably don't have a good job...keep flipping your burgers
i think our goodman Jhusla raises an excellent point, anyone who smokes marijuana is a degenerate as it is illegal to do so in most states. akin to how any individual who drank alcohol during prohibition was a no good derelict as well, and the scourge of society. a self respecting man, such as jim irsay, would opt for prescription pain meds, or the gentleman's drug of choice.

In the NFL you can beat your wife , rape , murder and assault but you better not smoke weed ... Makes sense

Well it took longer than expected for the usual rhetoric to show up.
Donnie_LoveboatWed 8/27/14 1:21 PM
absolutely my goodman, the NFL's moral compass has been impeccable since rodger goodell's inception as the commish.
GaineDMWed 8/27/14 1:23 PM
Browns passing attack looks very pedestrian.
joegibbskins07Wed 8/27/14 1:24 PM
manslaughter, not murder.
