Green Bay waived Mitchell (quadriceps) with an injury designation Wednesday, Ryan Wood of the Green Bay Press-Gazette reports.

The move means that unless another team claims him during the current waiver period, Mitchell will revert to the Packers IR list. The extent of the wideout's injury is still unclear, but his absence will open up more opportunities for rookies Samori Toure and Danny Davis, who themselves are fighting for a roster spot, too.
