Former NFL scout Dave Razzano says he was told by Kurt Warner's "people" that Warner wanted to play in 2010, but opted to retire after being "lowballed" by the Cardinals. If true, it's stunning considering the Cardinals ended up going with human incompletion machine Derek Anderson at quarterback to begin 2010. Seeing as Razzano is willing to say he heard it from Warner's own camp as opposed to a nameless source, it's a pretty credible report. Maybe the Cardinals franchise hasn't actually changed that much after all.

I thought he signed a 2-year, $20 million contract to cover the 09-10 season? Remember when he was visiting the 49ers after the Cards' Super Bowl appearance to try and scare the Cards into upping the ante for a 2-year contract?

Well, it seems weird because he retired pretty soon after the 2009 season ended. But contracts aren't guaranteed in the NFL, he was due a lot of money, so it's possible he knew the Cards weren't going to pay him.
