I wrote last week about San Diego tight end Ladarius Green and how he was positioning himself to be an impact player next season. This week he turned in another quality day, registering his second touchdown in as many weeks. Green did only have two catches, but he was targeted in the passing game a season-high six times. Antonio Gates continues to get the majority of looks, but Green gets down the field, nearly doubling Gates in yards per catch with a gaudy 22.1 average. If you are sneaking in to your league's playoffs and struggling at tight end, you might look to add Green, now. As an underdog, I like to make gutsy, big upside plays to give myself a chance and Green represents that at the tight end spot. Patient fantasy owners who have put up with Roddy White's injuries and terrible production were finally rewarded Sunday as White hauled in ten catches for 143 yards as the Atlanta Falcons topped Buffalo. The problem of course is that nearly no fantasy owners were brave enough to start White given his season thus far. The question owners have to answer now, as we enter fantasy playoff season, is what can they reasonably expect from White going forward? With some favorable matchups slated for the next couple of weeks, now is the time for White to get on track if he ever is going to. His many ailments appear to have healed or at least be manageable and he remains a favorite target of Matt Ryan. The Falcons' well-chronicled offensive line woes aren't going to magically improve, but the makeshift squad has had plenty of time to gel and learn one another's tendencies. It is expecting too much to think that White will be a consistent WR1 down the stretch, but if you have him on your roster, he might get you some much needed production. This preseason I pegged Cecil Shorts as a candidate to have a breakout season for Jacksonville. Shorts has been generally dependable, but unspectacular, putting up numbers of a low-end WR2 all season. While he hasn't exploded for any huge games, Shorts does have eight double-digit games in points per reception scoring formats. His numbers could be even better had he not missed a game, and parts of others with injuries. Shorts has been vocal about the lack of looks he has gotten recently and consequently he has been targeted 11 times in each of the last two weeks. Despite being matched up with Cleveland's shutdown corner Joe Haden on Sunday, Shorts reeled in six catches for 64 yards and a touchdown. If he can stay healthy, I still believe in Shorts and his ability to contribute to your fantasy team down the final stretch. His talent is obvious and all Jaguars' receivers present the opportunity to be the recipient of some garbage time points. Use Shorts in the playoffs and expect a slight uptick in his overall performance as a dependable WR2. With Denarius Moore out nursing a shoulder injury, Andre Holmes filled in admirably against the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving afternoon. Holmes was targeted 11 times and hauled in seven catches for 136 yards for the Raiders. In addition to an upcoming group of tough matchups and an unreliable passing game, along with Denarius Moore's return this week, Holmes will see fewer opportunities. While he does have appeal as a player to remember next season, he is not positioned to help you this year. Good luck in your march to a championship!
