The Rams plan to split snaps between Perkins and Delvin Hodges in Saturday's preseason opener versus the Chargers, Lindsey Thiry of ESPN.com reports.

After spending the 2020 season on the Rams' practice squad, Perkins signed a reserve/future contract with the team. He is expected to compete against Hodges for the team's backup quarterback position during training camp. The Virginia product threw for 6,210 yards, 47 touchdowns and 21 interceptions during his collegiate career. He also showcased skill on the ground by rushing for 1,691 yards and 20 scores in 27 games.
