ESPN Bills reporter Mike Rodak believes the team "would like" Bryce Brown to "develop into one of their lead backs."

He couldn't even win the backup job in Philly but Buffalo wants him to be a lead back lol, classic Buffalo

Huh? He was the clear #2 on the depth chart behind one of the NFL's best RBs the last two years for the Eagles, and had by FAR the most carries among the backup RBs in both the 2012 and 2013 seasons. This statement is just plain wrong.

Everything I read said that the coaching staff preferred Polk over Brown and that was how the depth chart was going to read moving forward. Bryce got more carries the last 2 years but never got any better while Polk did get better and stole his job. Don't hate the messenger.

Not hating, just not believing. You used the past tense, "couldn't even win the backup job in Philly" when in fact he had won it two years in a row. Show me a link saying Polk was guaranteed the 2014 backup role BY THE COACHES before Brown was traded. Polk had a grand total of 11 carries last year, lol. I hope you're not basing your belief on one random team blogger post mentioned in a Rotoworld snippet.

I don't need to show you a link saying Polk was guaranteed the 2014 backup role, I can show you the Eagles current roster if you like....that's all the proof you should need.

So by that logic, we can draw the same conclusion that Toby Gerhart "couldn't even win the backup job in Minny" because he's no longer on their roster? Alrighty then.

I never heard any rumblings of Matt Asiatta taking Gerhart's job, but we can agree to disagree. Obviously you are a fan and I am not lol.

Sounds like a plan!

Yeah gotta agree with jnormy, Brown was the clear #2 back in Philly, Polk may have won coaches over with his work ethic and IF Brown WERE to lose his #2 spot, which quite frankly is very speculative as he didn't do anything to warrant losing that role, it would be because they were looking for a different style of runner to back up Mccoy. As far as I'm concerned they moved Brown because they realized they couldn't sit on him forever. Him being traded as evidence that "he couldn't win it" is a very weak argument at best. Teams trade guys all the time regardless of whether they "would have been the starter" or "the 2nd stringer" or even the "third string". A team makes a trade to upgrade at another spot. They clearly have RB depth, no need to hold on to 3 guys who could be feature backs when they can get value for one of those pieces and still be secure at the RB position.

Fred Jackson can't play forever right?

Ha! That's what we keep saying each year, but he keeps proving us wrong! Lol.

Maybe brown had more carries because Mccoy was injured and Philly likes to run the ball...yeah that's it and just wasn't attractive enough to stay on the roster...now that's facts
