Newton opened the week with a limited tag Wednesday as he continues to recover from offseason surgery on his left foot. His inability to practice Thursday could just be precautionary, but it doesn't bode well for his chance at suiting up for Sunday's regular-season opener against the Buccaneers. Newton has one more opportunity Friday to practice in some capacity ahead of Week 1.
