Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy said Wednesday that Jarwin (hip) remains a candidate to return from injured reserve in 2021, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Jarwin was placed on injured reserve in early November and recently had a stint on the reserve/COVID-19 list, but he's since cleared all virus-related protocols. Though he's back at the Cowboys' facility, Jarwin has yet to be cleared to practice, though McCarthy said the tight end is "optimistic" about his chances of returning down the stretch. Since he's already missed more than the minimum three games, Jarwin is eligible to be designated for return from IR as soon as the Cowboys deem him ready to resume handling reps.
