Cofield was released by the Redskins on Friday, ESPN's John Keim reports.
It probably wasn't much of a decision, as the transaction saves Washington approximately $4.1 million against the 2015 cap. Soon to be 31 years old, Cofield should catch on elsewhere, if he doesn't agree to a smaller contract with the Redskins. He has never topped 54 tackles or four sacks in a single season.
yea but he is a NT. just as an example; in 2009, the best NT was Jamal Williams. his career line at the time was 121 games started, 311 tackles. that's 2.5 tackles per game for an average of 41 tackles a year. so yea, this was all about money, not his level of play.
