Coach Leslie Frazier would not commit to Josh Freeman playing in another game this season.
The Vikings gave Freeman a one-year, $3 million contract back in early October. Since then, he's appeared in one game -- the Monday Night Football disaster against the Giants. The Vikings are rolling with Matt Cassel as the starter and Christian Ponder as the backup. In related news, they'll be lighting $100 bills on fire in the streets later Thursday.
The only reason they are keeping this guy on the roster is to keep their QB options open next year. Their coaches have said they can't develop him without a productive off-season. So I guess they believe he is still capable of being their QB. Must really believe in him because it's costing them a lot of money. Still, I'd expect to see a Freeman vs. another QB (maybe a rookie) battle for starting QB in the Vikings off-season.
