Chiefs released CB Stanford Routt. We're starting to get scapegoats in Kansas City. Even though Routt is a vested veteran, all players must pass through waivers this time of season. A starter through Week 8, Routt was a healthy scratch for Week 9. Javier Arenas will now start opposite Brandon Flowers, leaving Jalil Brown for nickel duties. Making $6 million in the first year of a three-year deal, Routt has graded out as the 16th worst cornerback in Pro Football Focus' rankings, so the move is justified, if surprising. He should draw plenty of interest as veteran depth for the stretch run.
