Cassel will serve as the Cowboys' backup quarterback with Kellen Moore named the starter for Sunday's game at Buffalo, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
Cassel was afforded the first four drives of Saturday's loss to the Jets, before head coach Jason Garrett exchanged the veteran for the untested Moore. If Cassel doesn't make another appearance this season, he'll finish as Dallas' leading passer with 1,276 yards. However, the mark accompanies a 58.3% completion percentage and five touchdowns versus seven interceptions, which likely won't translate to more than a reserve role, wherever he lands in 2016.
