Baylis signed a contract with the Texans on Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
With the Texans moving C.J. Fiedorowicz (concussion) to injured reserve and unlikely to have their other two tight ends, Ryan Griffin (concussion) and Stephen Anderson (concussion), available for Thursday's tilt with the Bengals, Baylis could make the jump from the practice squad to the starting lineup. While a starting assignment would likely guarantee Baylis ample snaps, his lack of NFL experience could preclude him from seeing much involvement in the passing game. During his college career at Oregon, Baylis tallied 44 receptions for 511 yards and three touchdowns in 48 games.
