A source tells USA Today the Jets had "visions of lining up (Tim) Tebow at running back in traditional sets" when they first acquired him from the Broncos.

Coach Rex Ryan mentioned using Tebow as a runner when the Jets were running low on healthy backs in October, but they apparently originally planned for it to be an "integral part of their game plans." It's unclear why the scheme never came to pass, but it's highly doubtful it would have added a meaningful dimension to former OC Tony Sparano's spitball offense. Ryan and owner Woody Johnson both refused comment on Tebow's Jets future at Tuesday's season-ending presser, but the wide assumption remains that he'll be moving on from New York.
