49ers signed CB Eric Wright to a one-year contract and placed him on the active/non-football injury list. Wright was acquired by the 49ers from the Bucs nearly three weeks ago, but he failed his physical and was released. It's not certain what kind of ailment Wright has been dealing with, but he's apparently close to being healthy enough to come in and compete for a job. The Niners lost No. 3 corner Chris Culliver to a torn ACL last week, so Wright has a clearer opening. He'll compete with Tramaine Brock, Nnamdi Asomugha, and Perrish Cox for playing time.
